About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Oakland at 702 International Blvd, Cam Huong is a humble yet vibrant Vietnamese restaurant that dazzles with an authentic Southeast Asian flavor profile. Specializing in classic Vietnamese fare alongside a wide array of Asian-inspired sandwiches and noodle soups, Cam Huong offers a culinary experience deeply rooted in tradition but bursting with fresh, bold tastes.

Stepping inside Cam Huong, the setting is straightforward and unpretentious—think “no-frills, all-flavor” ambiance that puts the spotlight squarely on the food. It’s a place where locals and newcomers alike come for the genuine taste of Vietnam without any distractions, making it an ideal spot for a casual lunch or a quick, satisfying meal after a busy day.

The star of the menu is undoubtedly the Bánh Mì. From the iconic Thịt Nguội Pork Combination that layers ham, head cheese, and pâté, to the BBQ Chicken and Grilled Pork variations, each sandwich is crafted with fresh ingredients that create a harmonious blend of textures and flavors. The crunch of the perfectly toasted baguette paired with the savory meats, crisp pickled vegetables, and fragrant herbs invites a symphony of tastes in every bite. Longtime fans like Alice Hou rave about the value too—a generous bánh mì for as little as $6.50 feels like a delicious steal.

Beyond bánh mì, Cam Huong’s noodle and rice soups deliver a deeply comforting warmth. The Phở Đặc Biệt and seafood-rich Phổ Đồ Biển come steaming in generous bowls, perfect for those craving a soul-soothing meal. The Bún Bò Xào Lemongrass Beef Stirfry and hearty Beef Stew Noodle Soup invite you to savor the aromatic lemongrass and tender cuts of beef in every forkful.

Snack lovers won’t want to miss the signature egg rolls, which repeatedly earn accolades from customers like desirae velasquez, who swears by their crispy, freshly made texture. The Spam Musubi, Meat Pies, and vegetarian options like the Sesame Ball provide even more variety, showcasing the kitchen’s versatility and attention to traditional treats.

Drinks also add to the authentic experience here, with Vietnamese iced coffee delivering a rich, sweet, and robust jolt of caffeine, and the silky Milk Tea with Pearls offering a refreshing, chewy delight that rounds out any meal.

Cam Huong may not boast a sophisticated dining room or trendy décor, but its true charm lies in the kitchen's heartfelt dedication to quality and tradition. As AJ F aptly puts it, this place is “the culinary equivalent of a trusty old friend” — reliable, warm, and always ready to satisfy your cravings. Whether grabbing a quick takeout or settling in for a casual bite, the warmth of Vietnamese flavors here makes every visit memorable. If you’re exploring Oakland’s vibrant food scene, Cam Huong is definitely a flavorful stop you don’t want to miss.

I tried their #1 Banh Mi, which is the original combo with ham, headcheese, pate, and mayo. It was really delicious, and the ingredients were fresh. The sandwich was packed with flavor and had the perfect balance of textures. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a tasty and affordable meal. At just $6.50 for a Banh Mi!

This spot may lack ambiance—think less “charming bistro” and more “four walls and a countertop”—but it delivers a piping hot performance esp with its stellar banh mi.This place is also my go-to spot for party-sized goodies!Awesome egg rolls and noodles. it’s the culinary equivalent of a trusty old friend—this place is a solid choice, every time

Great place to get banh mi as well as some take out dishes. Also has a good assortment of grab and go dishes. The checkout process is a little confusing. Don't get in line if you aren't ordering food to go. Go to place to get sesame ball dessert snack.

Love a good banh mi that comes from inside a market deli. We came for a sandwich and wanted so much more. Lots of choices from the hot bar made us want to come back. We got two banh mi’s on this visit and a couple spam musubis. So good.

Very quick and great. Spring rolls were fresh and filling, although they looked small, they were tightly packed some how. Bahn mi was a little dry, but the daikon carrot combo was on point

Definitely worth visiting. The food is not "exceptionally great" but it is cheap and such a classic and special Vietnamese "to go" spot that you'll be happy you went and glad to support such a local establishment. I ordered the fried rice (perfectly executed, clean, and delicious) The chicken leg (good but far from great in its lack of lemongrass flavor which would have been amazing) Chow fun (hard pass... Greasy and far inferior to the fluffy fried rice unless you really have a hankering for some noodles to go with your main)

One of the best places to get a bahn mi and other Vietnamese dishes in Oakland. The original combo bahn mi with its pretty decent price and taste is the star of this place. I also highly recommend the shrimp spring rolls that are on the grab-and-go table, the Pandan and coconut jelly dessert drink(Che Banh Lot) that's located in the fridge, and the banana egg roll (near register counter). Line moves pretty quickly and your sandwich comes around in a few minutes. Props also to the artist who did all those big stop blocks outside the shop to look like popular Asian food items....i.e. Sriracha, shrimp chips, fish sauce, and etc lol.
